The problem is that foreign policy is tightly coupled with what we need militarily, so we have to have a review of foreign policy first, then defence policy.

If we ever end up in a war against a country where we actually need the number of Eurofighters we’ve got on order, I’d be more concerned about our imminent nuclear destruction.

Yeah, or in other words, just what are our armed forces for? I’d argue that we only really need a defence force. As long as we can defend ourselves against an invasion why do we need any sort of offensive capability? A basic defence force is all we need, get rid of nuclear weapons altogether.
