Well balanced and fair article and I was even impressed by Cooper yesterday as she too took the &quot;honest&quot; route: she admitted it was unexpected, admitted there were actually less people in work even though unemployment was down a bit and admitted that it would very probably rise again soon. Is this honesty the new tactic? I must say if it IS the new tactic it is a darn sight better than lying spin and waffle.</description>

		<description>Agree the figures released today are a cause for cautious optimism about the jobs market. Just one small point of criticism.

I think you may be stretching things slightly by trying to make the increase in those classed as economically inactive disappear on the basis of the 81,000 rise in students.

Almost certainly a big factor driving this rise in student numbers will have been the tightness of the jobs market. Having failed to find employment many people will have opted to study or retrain instead. Clearly this is not necessarily a positive sign.</description>
