No, wait a minute, that is our local MEP Roger Helmer’s policy to, given that he has criticised MEPs’ budget being increased in spite of the bigger workloads they look likely to get under the Lisbon Treaty.

Hmm, in reducing the number of MPs I wonder which ones Cameron will want to get rid of?

I read in the Independent and on this blog recently how Cameron wants to rush these changes through within a year or something.

And at any rate, cutting the number of MPs will do absolutely nothing to “cut the cost of politics”; the existing MPs will be given bigger workloads, as will their staff, meaning they’ll probably have to be paid a lot more anyway.

Talk about changing the goalposts…

Of course, it’s gerrymandering. Everyone knows the effect of the proposed reduction of MPs will help the Conservative party.

It Cameron caresd about fairness, he’d go for a proper form of electoral reform (PR or AV).

I don’t think Sunder Katwala’s charge of gerrymandering sticks.

The Tories have said they’ll cut the number of Ministers, so backbench power will not be diluted.
