Earth Hour 2010: Tonight at 8:30pm
Our guest writer is Jadis Tillery of We Are Social
Tonight at 8:30pm people, businesses and iconic buildings around the world will switch off their lights to show the support for WWF’s Earth Hour.
Participating is easy, all you have to do is sign-up and join others across the UK as they switch off for an hour tonight at 8:30pm. Last year Earth Hour saw hundreds of millions of people across 3,000 cities and towns in 83 countries participate to show the world’s governments that climate change needs to be addressed urgently.
Watch the campaign video:
We would love you to help spread the message even further by ask your friends, families, colleagues to get involved too – there’s still time! If you’re keen to do a bit more there are a number of great ideas and resources online at the WWF Earth Hour website for you to use, including:
• Join the Earth Hour UK & Ireland county signup challenge which pits county against county to see which part of the British Isles has the most people signed up
• Add a nifty light-switch widget for your blog
• Try your hand at light-writing
• Take photos or videos showing how you spent Earth Hour and share them with WWF
And if none of those takes your fancy then there are loads of other ways to show your support tonight. Every contribution, no matter how small you think it might be (even re-tweeting this post would help!), is important, so please help us and show your support.
The more sign-ups we get, the more we can show governments around the world how seriously their people now consider global warming to be, and how loud their voice is on this urgent issue.
