I am a lobbyist. I believe there should be a register on public interest grounds....ie who lobbyists for, which MPs and civil servants are approached on behalf of those clients, and importantly, what is discussed. To suggest the public has "no right to know" is just plain folly. Now more than ever, this is a time for the politicians to restore public confidence in their profession. Creating a register is surely a right step in that direction.I am not ashamed of my clients and I have nothing to hide. Clearly some do.

Yes, lobbying is definitely a non-partisan sport - see <a href="http://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/2010/label-bosses-warn-debate-could-cost-the-disconnection" rel="nofollow">this</a> example, for one.

In fact reading a bit further about Tamasin Cave, of the Alliance for Lobbying Transparency it appears she is very anti-Tory LibCons poster and the ALT website is just an anti Cameron post.

Where are you asking ALL parties? Where is the GENUINE concern for the public and not these biased political rantings??

Another LeftFootInMouth post IMO.

I have told Tamasin that her campaign would be more successful if it didn't seem to be so anti-business and anti-Tory. It is not as if there are no New Labour lobbyists. The Taxpayers' Alliance and the Sunlight Centre for Open Politics would be allies if it wasn't so partisan.

Loads of right-wing parliamentarians detest lobbyists, Redwood and Carswell forinstance.

The irony is that ALT just comes over as lobby for the green interests that finance it.
