Any linkage with the SNP will be unstable as they cannot be relied upon – I was going to say trusted – to act in any cohesive way with the other parties. If either Labour and the Lib Dems get themselves enmeshed with Alex Salmond and the SNP in an election year (Holyrood) they deserve all they’ll get – precious little for them and political advantage for the SNP. Oor Eck will milk any alliance for all he can get until he judges it timeous to pull the plug. Angus Robertson as his man in Westminster won’t be able to go to the toilet without Eck’s blessing.
