Your point about the emptiness of our stated strategic end goal, of an enormous security superstructure sitting on top of a minute economy with a very weak central government, is well made. This has been the elephant in the room for some years, our end goal is a repressive security state fighting its own people. Not very attractive. From outside the machine it looks very much like there is no strategy and no realistic gols, and our troops are dying and killing for we know not what. Excellent and realistic article.
