Gil Scott-Heron: 1949-2011
The artist Gil Scott-Heron, a man without whom modern hip-hop would be unimaginable, has died aged 62. Like all paradigm-breakers, his work defies categories – sounding like nothing that preceeded it, yet not limited by the musical movements it helped create.
