Watch: ‘Conspiracy theorist’ Republican Senator lies on air on unemployment figures

Republican Senator Rob Portman lies through his teeth on President Obama's jobs record.

Everyone’s used to politicians spinning, evading questions and being a tad economical with the actualité, but such blatant lying as that spouted from the mouth of Republican Senator Rob Portman is something to behold.

As Think Progress report, when pressed by ABC News’s Jake Tapper on Paul Ryan’s false claims about President Obama’s unemployment record in Thursday’s VP debate, Portman said:

I think that what he was saying was the truth: unemployment is higher today than when the president took office. Unfortunately, in the meantime, we’ve created net zero jobs, Jake.

Watch it:

Though such straight-faced on air lying may come as a surprise this side of the pond, Portman is far from alone in pedalling conspiracy theories about the Bureau of Labor Statistics cooking the books.

Left Foot Forward wonders what other theories the GOP right will come up with next… Baumgartner deniers anyone??
