38 Degrees has released a new video about the Government’s proposed Lobbying Bill, which features a range of voices explaining what the bill involves and why it is flawed. One of the people in the video is Paul Staines, or Guido Fawkes, as he is more widely known.
The Lobbying Bill is now so universally condemned that it has managed to unite 38 Degrees, Guido Fawkes, Owen Jones, Labour List, Lib Dem Voice and Conservative Home.
Now that takes some doing…

If you really want to know about “Lobbying” then look to what the EU has to say about it. “LOBBYING IN THE EUROPEAN UNION: CURRENT RULES AND PRACTICES” etc, for yes there are many more bright ideas from the EU, So, is our Government only following EU orders. Suggestion’s then? Perhaps? Maybe? Just a little bit?

…As Brussels has turned into an important centre of decision-making power (80 % of national legislation today is of European inspiration…
Therefore today’s UK politicians are at best only 20% as important as they pretend they are and probably far less since German and French opinions will be far more important. One wonders how much of the lobbying bill emanates from UK politicians and how much from Brussels?

Clearly someone’s got something correct.
It’s not often that you get both sides in agreement, so vested interests get together as strange bed-fellows.
In any event as 80% of legislation is Brussels based and Lobbying over there makes Westminster pale into insignificance we have a greater problem yet to deal with.
