Anyone taking a closer look at the figures can see that one measure of inflation has gone down, while the other has gone up.
Yet again inflation has outpaced wages as figures realeased today by the Office for National Statistics show the Consumer Price Index at 2.7 per cent.
Consumer price inflation rose more than expected in April, reaching 4.5% – up from 4.0% in March – according to figures released earlier today by the ONS.
