Left Foot Forward’s Varun Chandra was on Channel 4 News last night to discuss hung parliaments. Conservative Home’s Tim Montgomerie and Olly Grender, former communications adviser to Paddy Ashdown, were also on the panel.
Varun outlined that it was fear-mongering hyperbole to say “the country’s bankrupt” and noted that markets were already “comfortable” with the idea of a hung parliament – a reference to a recent Goldman Sachs report. He pointed out that equity markets have gone up, the cost of government has remained steady, and sterling had strengthened against the euro and dollar.
